The RHS Colour Chart Large – Sixth Edition 2015
The RHS colour chart from the Royal Horticultural Society is used to identify and communicate colours accurately across the world. The chart is divided into four fans, with each fan containing different hues 1. The sequence of hues in the chart starts with greenish yellow and proceeds through yellow, orange, red, purple, violet, blue, green, and back to greenish yellow at the end of Fan 3. Fan 4 comprises grayed colors of various hues 2.
Resembling a paint chart, The RHS Colour Chart has 920 colours that can be matched precisely to flowers, fruits and other plants in order to record and communicate colours accurately across the world. Every colour or shade has a unique number and letter code as well as an English name.
As well as being used by horticulturists, it is also used in food to standardise food colourings and food colour, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and fashion as its wide range of colours is based on the natural world.
