LABTEK Services is pleased to announce that one of its suppliers, Qlip, has put a new pre-treatment area for microbiological analysis into operation in its dairy laboratory. This is known as the High Care Area and is utilized in the preparation of samples for microbiological analyses in powdered dairy products like infant formula. Several strict procedures are implemented in this room related to the working methods, disinfection of sample packaging, routing, disinfection, and cleaning. Therefore, along with disinfecting with disinfectants, this room also gets disinfected throughout the day with the help of ozone and ultraviolet light (UV). Before the samples get into the pre-treatment area, they are put in the pass-through cabinets. In these cabinets, ozone and UV light are also used.
Along with the High Care Area, Qlip has incorporated a lot of extra measures in order to make sure the whole process in the laboratory is able to meet hygiene standards of the highest level. A few of these measures include:
- Separate sample reception cabinet with UV light
- Optimization of the routing of samples from arrival to the analysis result
- Numerous extra moments for disinfection of sample materials, packaging materials, and trolleys.
The purpose of Qlip’s investment is to ensure that it meets the highest hygiene standards as an innovative and progressive laboratory. Qlip is the first commercial laboratory with this High Care Area for the sample preparation for performing microbiological analyses in powdered dairy products
The whole process of weigh-in and sample treatment was thoroughly reviewed by an external group of experts. After their review, the experts were able to conclude that the whole process is completely secure and will meet all the desired requirements of the hygienic work.
The commissioning of the High Care Area and the tightened procedure will not have any sort of impact on the turnaround times of analyses. Also, the application and reporting of analysis results will go forward in the same manner. If the samples are pre-processed in the High Care Area, you can view them in the report.
